Building a Resilient Tech Future: Poland Advances National Semiconductor Policy

Poland is keeping pace in the global tech race. The Ministry of Digital Affairs is developing the “Policy for the Semiconductor Sector”—a strategic framework aimed at building a robust, innovative, and resilient microelectronics ecosystem in the country. The draft was released on February 6, 2025, followed by an intensive public consultation process that concluded on March 4. A total of 38 stakeholders from Poland and abroad—representing industry, academia, and government—took part, submitting 356 suggestions to help refine the strategy’s objectives and actions.

Key focus areas outlined in the draft include:

  • Photonics

  • Sensor systems

  • Industrial automation technologies

  • Energy-efficient components

  • Internet of Things (IoT) solutions
The strategy also highlights the potential of integrated circuit design and wide-bandgap semiconductors, particularly gallium nitride (GaN).

Participants stressed the importance of expanding test and pilot infrastructure, ensuring stable access to utilities and critical raw materials, and establishing a dedicated semiconductor technology park. Another forward-looking proposal was the creation of cross-border technology microregions, such as a Dresden-Wrocław-Prague corridor.

Work on the final version of the document is currently underway. Its publication will chart an ambitious roadmap for building a competitive and future-ready semiconductor sector in Poland.
